PROPOSED CONSTITUTION

1. NAME:

 

Maidenhead United Supporters Association

 

2. MISSION STATEMENT

 

a)     To assist in the development of Maidenhead United Football Club (MUFC) through the donation of funds and time.

b)     To provide the supporters of MUFC with a forum to discuss the activities of MUFC and the opportunity collectively to influence the activities of MUFC.

c)     To encourage the people of Maidenhead and its environs to support the local football club.

d)     To foster good relations with the supporters of other football clubs.

e)     To forge links with similar Supporters Associations.

f)       To create and maintain an autonomous organisation with the entire membership having the freedom to dictate its activities.

 

3. MEMBERSHIP

 

a)     The Association will be open to all supporters of MUFC.

b)     Members aged 16 years and over will be accorded Full Member status. Under-16s will be Associate Members, with the same privileges except where Full Membership is required by the Constitution.

 

4. SUBSCRIPTION

 

a)     Every member will pay a one-off joining fee.

b)     Every member will pay an annual subscription that will be due and payable on 1st September.

c)     A discount rate for Associate Membership will be set for anyone aged under 16 at the time of joining.

d)     Any member who fails to pay the annual membership fee on or before 30th September in any given year will cease to be a member of the Association, although anyone may join/re-join at any stage during the year, subject to payment of the joining fee and annual subscription.

 

5. OFFICERS

 

a)     The Full Members of the Association will elect a Chairman, a Secretary and a Treasurer.

b)     All officers will serve for a period of one year and will be eligible for re-election at each AGM.

 

 

 

6. ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

 

a)     The AGM will be held in the month of August each year on a date and time to be agreed by the membership.

b)     The members will receive a Secretary’s report and a Treasurer’s report of the Association’s activities over the past year.

c)     All financial documents pertaining to the year in question will be available for inspection by members, with any necessary accounts having been audited.

d)     Any member who wishes to propose a change to the constitution, or nominate someone for election as an officer, must inform the Secretary prior to the meeting.

e)     Members may at any time call an Extraordinary General Meeting.

f)       The Secretary will inform all members of the date and time of the AGM / EGM at least 7 days before the meeting.

g)     A minimum of one third of the Full Members of the Association must be present for the AGM / EGM to be quorate.

h)     Members who hold Full Membership are entitled to vote on changes to the constitution and of officers, subject to a quorum being present.

i)        All members nominated for office must have held Full Membership of the Association for a minimum of six months.

j)       All voting will be done on a one member, one vote, majority basis.

 

7. MEETINGS

 

a)     The Association will meet at least six times a year.

b)     Members are free to discuss any business pertaining to the Association.

c)     A minimum of one third of the membership of the Association must be present for the meeting to be quorate.

d)     Full Members and Associate Members are entitled to vote on discussions affecting the activities of the Association, subject to a quorum being present.

e)     All voting will be done on a one member, one vote, majority basis.

f)       In the case of a deadlock the chair will have a casting vote.

 

8. MAIDENHEAD UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB

 

a)     At the Maidenhead United Supporters Association AGM or EGM, Full Members will elect a supporters’ representative to apply for the position of Supporter-Director on the board of directors of MUFC.

b)     Any member of the Association who is a current Director of MUFC may not stand, nominate or vote regarding this position.

c)     Should the nominee be successful in their application for a place on the board of MUFC, their role as Supporter-Director will be to represent the interests of the Association’s membership and Maidenhead United supporters in general, while working with the other directors for the benefit of MUFC.

d)     The elected representative will act as a channel for communication between the board of MUFC and the members of Maidenhead United Supporters Association. In stating this, the Association recognises that as a Director, the representative will on occasion be privy to information that is confidential and cannot be made public.

 

9. DISSOLUTION

 

If the members decide to terminate the Supporters Association, any surplus funds will be disbursed to an institution as deemed suitable by the members.
