AYLESBURY UNITED YOUTH 1 (1)

MAIDENHEAD UNITED 0

We did really well tonight. Aylesbury, unbeaten and flying high in the league scored in the 15th minute when debutant Xavier Etienne failed to clear a simple ball out of defence. Apart from that one error we applied ourselves and played with a passion missing in recent weeks.

Ayslebury handed us a 6-1 drubbing at York Road earlier in the season but never looked like repeating it as we had them with their backs to the wall for long periods.

The second half was in their managers words like the Alomo as we battered their defence. The state of the pitch meant the football was never going to be attractive but we were more effective in the conditions. With ten m inutes remaining we had a goal disallowed when the lino flagged for a handball. Their keeper also parried away a shot in the dying seconds from Andre Turner that look destined for the top right corner.

Not the right result but overall quite pleasing.

Our next scheduled match is 20th December, away to Uxbridge.
