The guys played very well tonight and defeated a strong Henley side by the odd goal in 5.
Playing in our new away "Aston Villa" kit we shook off the bad display of last week and produced 90 minutes of high quality high tempo football.
Our neat passing and constant movement ran Henley ragged and we nearly took the lead in the 15th minute when a Lewis Driver shot skimmed off the bar. 10 minutes later David Ruan struck a twenty five yarder that rattled of the post.
We had to wait until the 40th minute before we opened the scoring when a 30 yard David Ruan drive beat the keeper all hands down and lifted the net.
We started the second half strong and Abraham Osho notched when he held the ball up with sheer strength and powered toward the keeper to shoot low into the net on 52 minutes.
We were caught with a sucker punch in the 60th minute when a ball was squirmed between the feet of defender Chris Ellis with the winger skipping by and then beating Kieron Hudson in goal.
This didn't last long when we scored the goal of the game when some intricate close passing following a corner saw Lewis Driver smash a cleanly taken ball into the net from 10 yards.
We relaxed a bit after this and paid the price when Henley scored another goal from a long clearance and some sloppy defending.
We rang the changes and held out the last 15 minutes with one or two scary moments whilst squandering our own chances at the other end.
All in all a great win over a very useful team.
Next week we are playing on a Tuesday night away to Reading Town at Scours Lane.
The following Tuesday we travel to Aldershot Town in the FA Youth Cup 7-30 KO
Squad: Hudson, Ellis, Stevenson, Lock, Hached, Driver, Dexter, Ruan, Turner (Cooper), Osho, Henry. subs Cooper (used 65th), Cumming, Britnell, Lyons, Banks.
