Maidenhead United Youth 1 Holyport Reserves 1
Totally one sided the way I saw it. We had about 80% of possesion
and should have strolled to victory by a country mile. But we
didn't. Poor finishing and over complicated football was the order
of the day.
Started the game with 4-4-2 and took the game to Holyport. Passing
was neat but far too often we played one pass too many. We scored
on 15 minutes when another good move through the midfield duo of
Ryan Hazell and David Ruan set Ian Henry free who slotted to
Abraham Osho to tap the ball home. We then missed sitter after
sitter but at least we created the chances. Best to miss them now
rather than next week when we take on Marlow in the first Allied
Counties game of the season.
Holyport equalised when Phil Partridge was adjudicated to have
fouled within the penalty area and Holyport were awarded a
penalty.
Second half we changed to 3-5-2 and continued to dominate with our
keeper a lone figure between the sticks. Again we created all the
chances but failed to find the net.
Used 19 players tonight with all slotting in nicely. Finished the
game with 6 16 year olds, one 15 year old and one 14 old! All held
their own against an Adult side.
We travel to Iver Heath (Giles Div One) on Saturday to complete
our pre-season.
Next Wednesday we face a trip to Marlow for our first Allied
Counties League Game.
In the league Cup we have been drawn at home to Hanwell and face a
tough away trip to Aldershott in the FA Youth Cup.
Took a lot of positives from tonight. Technically we are very
good. We just need to be more direct sometimes.
