THAME UNITED 1 (0)

MAIDENHEAD UNITED 3 (1)

Somewhat lacklustre tonight but maybe to be expected after the high of last weeks FA Youth Cup win. Nevertheless we won and continue our unbeaten start to the season. We have now gained 7 points from 9 in the league and move into 2nd spot with a game in hand and a point behind.
It was nice to see Wycombe Wanderers and Slough Town Legend Mark West was my opposing manager tonight with his son playing centre forward for Thame.
We opened the scoring in the 10th minute when Lewis Gratton made space for himself on the edge of the box and hit a low fierce shot into the bottom left hand corner.
The remainder of the half saw the ball in the air as both teams seems content to punt 60 yard balls from defence to defence. Every time we played the ball on the deck we looked dangerous but the players didn't seem to cotton on to this fact.
The second half was much better after the players were told to play to their strengths and keep the ball on the deck. Nathan Lishman once again played a great game with never ending work while Josh Waldren ran the right wing like human dynamo. On the other side Raj Gill showed some neat footwork and supplied some telling balls. One being to Lishman in the 53rd minute with Lishman smahing the ball low into the net to make it 2-0.
George Lock making his first start wrapped up proceedings in the 63rd minute with another low drive into the net after being supplied by Gill.
Thame pulled a goal back after sloppy defending from a corner in the 80th minute.
Next week we are hopefully back in FA Youth Cup action away to either Bracknell Town or Aylesbury United.
