MAIDENHEAD UNITED 5 (3)

Another great performance tonight in the FA Cup.
Thatcham historically have a strong Youth set up with an academy in place. For the second week on the trot we smashed home five goals without reply in what I can honestly say is the strongest Youth Team I have put together.
What is particularly pleasing is that the age range is across three years which bodes well for the future and our development.
We again stuck to a 3-4-1-2 formation. The instruction was to attack with pace and move the ball on quickly. This worked well and once again took our opponents by surprise with our pace. We opened the scoring in the 5th minute when the ever hard working Nathan Lishman chased down a dead ball and beat the keeper to the first touch to nudge the ball home from close range.
Debutant James Gisborne made it 2-0 in the 11th minute when he deftly wrong footed the keeper on the edge of the area to side foot into an empty net after good work from Lee Barney.
Gisborne (Gizza) made it 3-0 in the 27th minute with the goal of the game when a neat movement resulted in a powerful drive from 18 yards into the roof of the net.
In between the goals Thatcham attacked well but rarely troubled our keeper. The close knit back three worked very hard along with our wingbacks.
The second didn't vary much with Maidenhead constantly on the attack. Xavier Ettienne made it 4 from the spot when Josh Waldron was held back with only the keeper to beat. Strangely the referee gave no yellow card or red!!!!
We wrapped up a stupendous display in the 85th minute when substitute George lock nodded home debutant Raj Gill's great cross.

Man Of The Match Lee Barney.

1. Aarron O'Brien, 2. Chris Sargent, 3. Jake Chance, 4. Matty Stevenson (C), 5. Josh Waldron (Raj Gill), 6. Lewis Gratton, 7. Dominic Marioni, 8. Xavier Ettienne, 9. Nathan Lishman ( Jason Strowger), 10. James Gisborne (George Lock), 11, Lee Barney.

Unused Subs: Ben Ridley
