The proverbial game of two halves tonight.
We started brightly and two good opportunities in the opening 4
minutes only to see us cgo a goal down through poor defending in
the the 8th minute. We hit back when George Lock poached a goal
after a mix up in the W&E defence to drag us back into the game 3
minutes later.
Whilst we created plenty with Nathan Lishman causing havoc, our
defending at times was woeful. Another slack piece of defending
when a ball that should have been cleared was completely missed
resulted in W&E going 2-1 up.
The half time team talk was not for the feint hearted. This
spurred the team on into the second half where we dominated from
until the final whistle. Nathan Lishman made it 2-2 after his
initial shot was blocked but he followed it in to ram home the
rebound in the 56th minute. 10 minutes later Lishman lashed in
another shot from 20 yards in to the bottom right hand corner.
We had ample opportunity to extend the lead but some great
goalkeeping and missed chances meant the score remained the same
until the 90th minute when James Gisbourne's goal bound shot was
bundled over the line by a W&E defender.
Reading's head scout was in attendance tonight and I gather he
will be back watching us next Wednesday when we travel to Henley
in what could be a title deciding match.
we have two matches scheduled for next week. On Monday we have a
league Cup Quarter Final against Edgware Town at York Road, KO
7-45. Two days later we travel to top of the league Henley.
