The Youth made hard work of this fixture and
didn't kick in until a half time rollicking. Fielding only 1 regular
Youth team starter this season we gave the rest of the squad the
chance to show us what they can do.
The opposition was not up to our standard, and even though our
players were mainly the younger upcoming prospects with 2 or more
years at
this level we were sloppy in the first half and dropped to our
oppositions level.
We opened the scoring on 20 mins when Lee Barney finally scored his
first goal for the club.
Xavier Ettienne extended the lead to 2 in the 38 minute of a poor
half.
After the break and a stern team talk we looked much sharper with
more crisp passing on show. Also, our fitness levels showed as we
maintained a good pace. Lee Barney extended the lead in the opening
minute and wrapped up his hatrick on 10 mins.
Lee's strike partner then got in on the act with with a good brace
of goals taking the tally to 6.
A good lob from debutant Luke Tuner made it seven.
In the final 10 minutes Lee Barney created two great chances that
were saved by the foot of the post and the keeper but George Lock
was on hand on both occasions to smash home the loose balls to take
his final tally to 4 and ours to 9.
All in a good performance that just goes to show the depth of talent
we are nurturing in the youth at the moment |
