MUFC
1950’S RETRO SHIRT FROM TOFFS
In the New
Year we hope to order 25 Maidenhead United 1950's retro shirts, as worn by
Bert Randall and others in the Hall of Fame photos in Stripes, via the
well-established Toffs website. These will be
identical to the long-sleeved Newcastle United 1950's away shirt that they
currently offer - all white with black collar
(http://www.toffs.com/invt/1530) - but will obviously have the Maidenhead
United badge used at the time (featuring inaccurate formation year of 1869)
instead of the Newcastle one.
Sizes
available will be M (40 – 44”), L (44 – 48”) and XL
(48 – 50”) and the shirts will cost £40 for MUSA members and
£45 for non-members. A £10 deposit will be required upfront. This will be
refunded if we do not receive the required 25 orders. Please see a MUSA
committee member to register your interest.
SUPPORTERS GAME
We were supposed to host a Welling United
Supporter’s XI last season but the match fell foul of a waterlogged
pitch. As for this year, the Wings continued involvement in the FA Trophy
(at the time of writing) and the unpredictable weather means that we have
decided against attempting to organise an encounter in Kent on
31st January. Hopefully things will be different though for the reverse
fixture on 28th March. Concrete details will be made available as and when
via email and the forum. Please make yourself known if you would like to
play.
MUSA DONATE £1,000 TO ‘SPONSOR A
SEAT’ INITIATIVE
MUSA have reacted swiftly to the club’s
official announcement of the ‘sponsor a seat’ initiative
(detailed elsewhere in the programme and in the press) by following up on
our earlier pledge to sponsor 20 seats at £50 each – we hope to
present a cheque to the club ASAP. MUSA fully commend the club on this
initiative and, while mindful of the harsh economic climate, would like to
encourage its members, specifically, and Magpies fans in general to support
it where possible.
MEMBERSHIP
RENEWAL / NEW MEMBERS
That
time of year again! 12 month renewal remains available at a cost of £5 (£1
for under 16’s) or, alternatively, you can obtain Life Membership of MUSA
for £25. Please pay cash or cheque to any MUSA committee member at a game
or at the AGM. Cheques - made payable to Maidenhead United Supporters
Association - can also be sent to Flat 6, Elmhurst, 56 Bath Road,
Maidenhead, Berkshire SL6 4JY. New membership cards will be distributed
following receipt of funds.
New members are always welcome - £5 annual subscription plus £5 joining fee
(£1/£1 for under 16’s) or £25 life membership plus £5 joining fee (no
concessions). Please obtain and complete a membership form from the club
shop at halftime or contact one of the committee members at a first team
game.
PLAYER
SPONSORSHIP / 49 CLUB / MoM ADJUDICATORS
MUSA
will again be running these initiatives for the new season. Both are
important streams of revenue for the Association, enabling us to implement
ground improvements (MUSA paid for the paint used during this
Summer’s Work Parties, for example) and organise events such as the
ever-popular Hall of Fame nights, so please donate if you possibly can.
Re
sponsorship - players are available at £40 on a first came, first served
basis with money required upfront. Why not show your support for your
favourite player, get your name in the programme on a weekly basis and help
out the Association while you’re at it?!
The
49 Club will run for 36 weeks from Saturday 16th August - £2 per week or
£60 upfront. Each week will see two winners (one on a Wednesday, the other
on Saturday) taking home £25 each.
MoM Adjudicators will be required for
each game. Feel free to put yourself forward for a particular match and get
your opinion and your name in the programme!
Those
interested any or all of the above should email musa2006@fsmail.net
or contact one of the committee members at a first team game.

SUMMER
WORK PARTIES / RE-UPHOLSTERING OF SEATS IN STRIPES / “ENGLISH
HERITAGE” YORK ROAD
SIGN
Thanks
to all those who provided their time (and paint!) during the Work Parties
that were organised throughout the summer; your hard work has made a real
difference and is, I‘m sure, much appreciated by the club.
The
aforementioned minutes make note that MUSA is to re-upholster the 60 seats
in Stripes. To clarify, we have agreed to pay for this subject to
satisfactory quotes being received. At the time of writing those we have
been given have proved too costly.
Another
specific ground issue that we have been dealing with is, at Mark
Smith’s suggestion, the erection of a blue “English
Heritage” plaque at the York
Road entrance commemorating the ground’s
status as the oldest continuously used in the world by the same club. We
hope to have the plaque in place by the first Saturday home game of the
season, if not before.
SUPPORTERS
GAMES
The
actual red and yellow kit, sponsored by MUSA, that was once the first
team’s away strip is now in our possession and will be used as our supporters kit for the forthcoming season! It is hoped
that matches will be scheduled prior to our home fixtures with the
following sides…
04/10
- Dorchester Town *
15/11 - Eastleigh * 14/03 - Basingstoke
Town * 28/03 - Welling United *
25/04 - Hampton & Richmond Borough
…confirmed
details plus information on any possible away fixtures will be announced
via the usual outlets in due course. Those interested in representing MUSA
in any of these matches should email musa2006@fsmail.net or contact one of
the committee members at a first team game. Please note that preference
will be given to MUSA members regarding team selection.
MUSA
MERCHANDISE
Replicas
of the aforementioned red & yellow ‘MUSA’ shirts are
available in the club shop with (over) 10% off for MUSA members.
Short-sleeved/XL only.
TIM
ALFRED MEMORIAL GAME(S)
Following
on from Maidenhead United Reserves’ 3-1 win over a Castle Vale XI in
Solihull on Saturday 2nd August comes a second match to
celebrate Tim’s life which will hopefully also raise money for the
two charities he supported, namely Oxfam and Avert Aids…
Maidenhead
Boys & Girls XI v Maidenhead United Supporters Association
Date: Sunday 7th September @ 3 pm - Venue: York Road - Entry: Free
Those
interested in representing MUSA in this match should email musa2006@fsmail.net
or contact one of the committee members at a first team game.
