Frustrated
Taylor wants more goals from strikers (31.08.06)
AFTER
two draws in the last week, and still seeking their first win, Magpies
boss Carl Taylor is confident of a successful season, but frustrated
by the current lack of goals.
He is satisfied with the way the newly-formed defence and midfield
are working, but in simple terms the team are not finding the back
of the net enough times.
He said: We are not turning our superiority into goals and
thats the bottom line.
We have goals in us. Craig OConnor, Adie Allen and Yash
Romeo are goal scorers, but its not quite clicking at present.
However if we keep playing as we are doing, it will come.
We even missed a penalty against Mangotsfield. That didnt
help.
Taylor, however, is positive his side will find their form starting
at Merthyr Tydfil on Saturday.
He said; Im expecting a physical encounter havent
they all been but with us finally finding our shooting boots.
On Tuesday, the Magpies entertain Hemel Hempstead, kick-off 7.45pm.
Recent transer signings include striker Craig OConnor who
previously spent the 2004/05 season with the Magpies, finishing
top scorer and sweeping the board at the end of season awards before
moving on to Thurrock and then winning the Conference South Championship
with Weymouth.
Rob Hughes, a midfielder who spent three months at Oxford United
last season, made his debut at the weekend.
In other news Richard Witt now begins a seven day Berks & Bucks
ban carried over from last season and so missed the game at Mangotsfield
and Saturdays clash at Merthyr.
Maidenhead United Reserves lost their opening league game 5-1 at
Farnborough Nathan Bailey scoring the Magpies only
goal.
The Reserves entertained Staines in the league on Wednesday, result
unknown.
Maidenhead United Youth drew 1-1 with Holyport thanks to an Abraham
Osho goal.
The boys played their first league game at Marlow on Wednesday,
result unknown.
