Rebels reject move to York Road home (25.05.06)

SLOUGH Town have rejected an offer of a move to York Road, instead deciding to extend their groundshare arrangement with Windsor & Eton at Stag Meadow for another season.
The Rebels still hope to return to Slough at some point, but have not ruled out a move to York Road in the future.
Indeed, an official announcement on the club website thanked Maidenhead United for the offer of their facilities – an offer they would reconsider if the agreement with Windsor & Eton did not work out.
Magpies fans, and not a few Slough fans, greeted the news with disappointment, but Magpies director Peter Griffin remained positive, saying: “It would have been good to have them here for the extra revenue.
“However, we had not budgeted for them sharing so we are not looking at a deficit in our projected income.
“On a positive note, the work Simon (Tickner) is doing on the pitch will leave it better than before and it will not get damaged by increased use from Slough.”
