Taylor cuts his cloth to suit budget (23.12.05)

MAIDENHEAD United’s new backers have given manager Carl Taylor renewed hope, after giving him the nod to expand the playing squad.
Taylor said: “I had a chat with the financiers and they don’t want to go down.
“Whatever that takes, they are going to back me.”
The new signings began last week, when Dean Bradshaw, a right-sided midfielder, joined the club from Heybridge Swifts.
The former England Schoolboy international began his career at Gillingham, and has also played for Grays Athletic, Dulwich Hamlet, Braintree, Leyton and Redbridge.
He also had successful trials with Spanish giants Real Betis, but a permanent move failed to materialise.
Bradshaw played a part in United’s friendly defeat on Saturday, but did enough to impress manager Carl Taylor, who said: ‘He looked very lively. He’s got all the tools.”
Craig Lewington also joined the Magpies this week from Windsor & Eton.
The 23-year-old midfielder has played for Hampton & Richmond Borough, where he first met up with Taylor, Kingstonian, Brentford and Wimbledon.
Taylor added: “We’re talking to another couple of players at the moment and I’m hoping to have more in by mid January.”
