Assured United reach new heights

SATURDAY'S convincing 3-1 win over Hendon moved the Magpies into the top half of the Ryman Premier, arguably their highest league position in living memory.
And, despite a couple of rocky patches earlier in the season, manager Alan Devonshire is delighted with his team's progress.
He said: "I'm very pleased. If someone had offered me this position in the table at the beginning of the year I would have taken it.
"It's nice to be where we are, especially as we have had a few problems with injuries and the likes.
"We are exactly where I want us to be."
League fixtures are a bit thin on the ground for the next few weeks, so fans hoping to see more flowing football from the Magpies will have to travel to Middlesex on Saturday, November 3, when United take on Ryman Division 1 side Northwood, in the FA Trophy.
Next up in the league are Grays Athletic on November 10, with a 1pm kick-off at York Road.
The following Tuesday, United face an away clash with Billericay, followed by another away fixture at Braintree Town.
All three are title contenders and, despite Maidenhead's improving form, most fans would be happy if United managed to salvage a point.
