Its
not bad luck (21.10.05)
Taylor
determined to defy fate and make his own luck
PAINFULLY
narrow defeats at Havant & Warterlooville and Bishops
Stortford have left Maidenhead United five points adrift of the
pack.
But boss Carl Taylor has rejected the unlucky tag, while
assuring the fans of happier times ahead.
He said: Were not unlucky. I hate that word. Im
afraid you make your own luck in this game.
Were disappointed we didnt win both games, let
alone get draws, especially on Tuesday.
In terms of what we put in, we didnt get out what we
deserved.
At Havant they might say they created more chances on goal.
But Martin Hayes and his players said we gave them (Bishops
Stortford) a lesson in football on Tuesday night.
Stortford are 10 points above us, but if youd watched
on Tuesday youd think we were 10 points above them.
We could and should have won both games.
Were that close to being a strong side in this league.
Indeed, it is only Uniteds woeful scoring record that is keeping
them in the bottom three, perhaps explaining why Taylor is hoping
to sign two new strikers by next week.
However, the York Road boss claims his latest trip to the transfer
market is only to add depth to his front line, saying: Were
not weak. The players I have can do it.
Theyre lacking a bit of confidence, but Im backing
them and they are starting to show signs. Its only a matter
of time now.
The fact Im bringing two more in is to strengthen for
later in the season.
Unfortunately, the new players will probably arrive too late for
tomorrows six-pointer at home to Eastleigh, a game which Taylor
has admitted will be a hard one to win.
He said: I had them (Eastleigh) watched this week and theyre
solid. I think theyll be tougher than Stortford. But I have
great belief in my players and as a team were not lacking
in confidence.
We know someones going to get it sooner or later. We
know we can do it.
Its only a matter of time until we get a good win.
Then well get the momentum going and well be fine.
