Magpies on the move (26.05.05)

MAIDENHEAD United chairman Jon Swan had good news for the York Road faithful this week, claiming rapid progress was being made on the proposed ground redevelopment.
He said: “There’s been a lot of activity in the last 72 hours and it’s looking extremely good for the club.
“We have made some considerable moves forward.
“And we’re pretty confident we can make further progress this summer.”
The chairman is hoping a deal can be agreed in time for the club’s AGM on Wednesday, July 20.
He said: “I would very much like to make a major announcement at the AGM.”
Before then, Swan is due to meet manager Dennis Greene to discuss next year’s playing budget, but whatever comes of the ground redevelopment, Swan claimed cuts were likely.
He said: “It’s not just a question of paying less, it’s about getting better value.
“I don’t believe we were getting value for money last season.”
