United recruited a new player last week, as 27-year-old Andy Cook
finally signed on the dotted line.
Formerly with Division 1 outfit Northwood, midfielder Cook will
join former team-mate Lawrence Yaku at the Magpies.
Manager Alan Devonshire said: Hes a player Ive
been interested in for a long time.
But I didnt know he was going to be available this year,
so Im very happy about that.
On the downside, signing new talent means losing old hands and Devonshire
confirmed that several players would be leaving York Road before
the new season kicked-off.
He said: Ferdy is definitely on his way but I dont know
where yet.
Others will be going, but I cant name them yet. I have
to speak to them first.
Devonshire currently plans to sign at least five new players, so
a similar number could find themselves leaving York Road over the
next few weeks.
He added: I said I would pick up four or five new players
before the new season and it looks like Ill achieve that.
Ive spoken to a couple of players from professional
clubs this week.
Its just a matter of talking to them some more and getting
them down to training to have a look at them.
