United's unbeaten run continues at Yeading (story posted 6/8/1)

MAIDENHEAD United continued their unbeaten pre-season build up with a closely contested 1-1 draw at Yeading, on Thursday.
Again, Alan Devonshire took the opportunity to use the majority of the squad, with only three players seeing out the whole 90 minutes.
Yeading took the lead early in the second half, when the referee bizarrely awarded a penalty when it seemed as if Lewis Craker had made a good challenge.
Despite being a friendly, the diminutive referee was surrounded by angry Maidenhead players, two of whom were booked, but the penalty was converted to make it 1-0.
Chances for both sides were few and far between, although the Yeading keeper did particularly well to tip a stinging shot from Lee Channell over his bar.
However, deep into injury time, substitute striker Steve Arkins laid off an inch perfect pass inside the area for the advancing full-back Paul Woodhouse, who fired home an unstoppable shot to bring cheer to the Maidenhead contingent, on a damp, miserable night.
Late on, Tim Cook nearly scored when the home keeper, who had looked shaky on crosses all night, dropped one at the captain's feet.
But Cook could not convert the chance and had to settle for a draw.
Next up are Leicester City, at York Road, on Wednesday night.
