Enfield (0) 1
Maidenhead Utd 1 (1)

MAIDENHEAD United had to settle for a 1-1 draw at lowly Enfield on Saturday, as the league stragglers hit back after the break to earn their third point of the season.
The hosts edged the opening encounters and were unlucky not to take the lead on nine minutes, when Paul Armstrong curled a shot past Richard Barnard, but just wide of the post.
However, having absorbed the pressure, United began to create chances of their own.
Ryan Ashe almost broke the deadlock on 18 minutes, only to see his shot saved by Kenny Addai in the Enfield goal.
But the pressure was mounting and, five minutes later, sprightly wing-back Obinna Ulasi gave United the lead.
Lawrence Yaku created the goal, when he was given room to run and beat two defenders before sliding the ball into Ulasi’s path, his first-time shot taking a deflection on its way into the bottom corner.
Before and after the break, Maidenhead could and should have extended their lead, but it was Enfield who finished the stronger, with Demba Traore pulling his team level on 64 minutes.
With six minutes to play, the hosts had a chance to nick their first win of the season, when they were awarded an indirect free-kick on the penalty spot.
Fortunately, for United, the shot was blasted into the massed ranks of red shirts on the line and richocheted harmlessly away.
However, with the seconds counting down, it looked as though United might have the last word, when Ashe connected with Yaku’s sublime cross and sent the ball looping over the keeper on its way to goal.
It went heart-breakingly close, but caught the underside of the bar and bounced away to safety.

Maidenhead United: Barnard, Morley, Jeffery, Kelly, Croxford, Elsegood, Cook, Nicholls, Yaku, Ashe, Ulasi. Subs: Adeyou (for Nicholls) Glynn, Rose, Saunders, Keywood.
