teamers are embarrassed
DESPITE
fielding an entire side of 1st team regulars Maidenhead United Reserves
slumped to an embarrassing 3-2 defeat to Sutton Uniteds second
string at York Road on Saturday.
The Magpies slipshod approach to the game was highlighted
as early as the second minute, when a defensive mix-up allowed the
visiting team to open the scoring.
However, Maidenhead were level within five minutes, when Lawrence
Yaku bundled the ball home after a goalmouth scramble.
The Magpies took the lead in the 16th minute, with a neat finish
by midfielder Dean Clark.
But despite this, Sutton continued to look the better side and it
was no surprise when they equalised shortly before the break.
In the second half there was no improvement in the Maidenhead play,
as they struggled to make any headway against a well-organised Sutton
side, who remained dangerous on the break, and deservedly regained
the lead in the 71st minute.
After this the Magpies had a lot of possession but rarely created
any clear chances, and it was the youthful visitors who held out
for a merited 3-2 win.
Maidenhead United Reserves are next in action in the league at home
to Brook House Reserves tomorrow (Saturday).
