TEAM BATH 0

MAIDENHEAD UNITED 2 (0)

Maidenhead earned all three points down in Somerset in a smash and grab raid which saw them weather a first half storm from the students before snatching victory in the second half.
With injuries forcing manager Johnson Hippolyte to name himself amongst the subs a hard struggle looked on the cards against the full time undergraduates of Bath University, and indeed it was Chico Ramos who starred in the first half, keeping United in the game with a string of good saves.  As the half drew on Maidenhead began to threaten and were unfortunate not to take the lead after half an hour when a Dominic Sterling header was inadvertently headed off the line by Yashwa Romeo.  Minutes later Romeo had a great chance to make amends when he rose highest to meet a cross from Dean Fenton but his header was off target.
The second half began in the same way as the first with Ramos making a superb double save, but with Nathan Bunce inspirational in the centre of defence, the tide began to turn.  Maidenhead made the break through in the 65th minute, when this time Romeo got his header from a Fenton cross on target to continue his excellent scoring record.  As the game drew to a close United tired, but removed any thought of a Bath revival with four minutes left when Fenton gave Smith the opportunity to curl in a beautiful goal with his right foot.  The win lifts Maidenhead up to 14th place, just five points behind Team Bath who remain 4th.
Magpies: Ramos, Nisbet (86 Driver), Parsons, Bunce, Sterling, Osman, Fenton, Brown Da, Roach (61 Newman), Romeo, Smith. Subs: Hippolyte, Brown De, Hughes.  Gate: 108.
