Johnson Hippolyte

Manager

 

Born: 09/06/64 Appointed in October 2006, Johnson (better known as Drax) had a long and distinguished non league career as a striker including spells at Aldershot, Chesham, Dulwich and Wealdstone.  He began coaching at Chesham and then became joint manager alongside Naz Bashir at Yeading.  Took sole control at The Warren in December 2001 and silverware followed with an Isthmian League Cup win in 2003.  This was followed by back to back Championship titles as Yeading swiftly moved up the Isthmian League and into the Conference South.  At the same time Drax sprang to national prominence when Yeading lost to Newcastle United live on BBC TV in the FA Cup 3rd Round in January 2005, a loss that was compensated by a double County Cup win at the end of the season.  Drax brought FA Cup glory to Maidenhead almost as soon as he arrived at York Road, taking the club to a first round appearance for the first time in 25 years, he then set about winning promotion at the first attempt which was achieved via the play offs following an amazing late season run of victories. Last season Drax won the Blue Square South Manager of the Month award for April for an unbeaten run which saved the Magpies from relegation.

Dereck Brown

Born: 08/08/63 Moved from Yeading with Johnson Hippolyte in October 2006.  A real non league legend as a player, midfielder Dereck won international honours and a Non League Player of the Year award during spells at Welling United, Walton & Hersham, Woking, Wembley, Hendon and Chesham United. Moved to Yeading in the summer of 2002 to assist Hippolyte.

David Gumbs

Coach

 

Moved from Yeading with Johnson Hippolyte in October 2006.  A UEFA-B coaching badge holder who began his playing career as a footballing centre-half at Wycombe Wanderers before a stint in the Tottenham Hotspur Reserves. Arrived at Yeading in the summer of 2004, to reunite with former Chalfont St Peter team mate Hippolyte.

Born 02/09/71 Moved from Yeading with Johnson Hippolyte in October 2006.  Highly-regarded and experienced player with experience at Kingstonian, Notts County, Dover Athletic, Eastwood Town and Harrow Borough. Signed for Yeading in the summer of 2003 where he has combined playing with coaching duties, and has continued to be a real influence on and off the field at York Road.

Tom Baddeley

Born: 24/02/90 Promising young centre back signed from Brentford in the summer of 2008.  Tom was farmed out on loan to Bracknell Town in the first half of the season to gain senior experience, returning just before Christmas to make his debut as a makeshift left back.

Rocky Baptiste

Striker

 

Born: 08/07/72. Well respected striker signed from Havant & Waterlooville in September 2008.  Rocky began his career at Chelsea, but made his name after finding the net regularly for Wealdstone and Hayes, earning a move to Luton Town.  After a short spell at Kenilworth Road, Rocky established himself at the highest level of non league football with the likes of Farnborough, Stevenage, Margate and Gravesend.  Whilst at Farnborough Rocky scored at Highbury in the FA Cup.  Moving to the south coast Rocky was a prolific scorer for the Hawks forming a formidable partnership with fellow Magpie Richard Pacquette.

Bobby Behzadi

Born 08/02/1981 Signed from Yeading in February 2007, Bobby can play either as a defender, a wing back or midfielder. Renowned as a busy player wherever he is in the team with an ability to beat opponents and deliver crosses. He spent his early career in the Conference with Stevenage Borough, moving onto Hayes before joining up with Johnson Hippolyte at Yeading in 2001 where he was an integral part of the team which enjoyed regular league and cup success.  His strong performances since arriving at York Road have seen him dubbed “The Daddy” by the Magpie faithful.  A serious injury sustained in October 2007 kept Bobby out of action for most of last season, returning to the squad for the preseason friendlies.

Narada Bernard

Born: 30/01/81 Left back signed from Weymouth in February 2008. Narada is a Jamican International who started his career with Tottenham Hotspur before moving to North London rivals Arsenal. He then spent three years at Bournemouth, making over 20 starts for the first team. He then moved into non league football notching up spells at Woking, Torquay United, Welling United, Farnborough Town, Dover Athletic, Yeading, Hemel Hempstead Town, Fisher Athletic and Rushden & Diamonds before arriving at the Wessex stadium in January 2007.  Currently on loan at Bishops Stortford.

Dale Binns

Midfielder

 

Born: 08/07/81 Signed in the summer of 2008 from Lewes.  Dale began his career at Hendon progressing through the youth and reserve teams at Claremont Road before going onto make almost 200 appearances for the first team in the early years of the decade when the Dons were one of the strongest teams in the Isthmian League.  Dale moved onto Cambridge City in the summer of 2004 where he was an integral member of the Lilywhites’ team which ended that season as Blue Square South runners up.  A short spell in the Blue Square Premier with Stevenage Borough followed before arriving at the Dripping Pan last summer where he won a Blue Square South Championship medal in April.

Luke Dexter

Young prospect who has graduated from the Youth team to the fringes of the first team squad.  Swept the board at the 2008 Reserve team end of year awards, winning the players’ player, manager’s player, and supporters’ Player of the Year awards.  Having gained experience with Holyport last season, Luke is currently on a season long loan with Bracknell to further develop his career.

Born: 17/03/89 Teenage defender signed in the summer of 2007 from Leyton Orient.  Completed a two year scholarship at Brisbane Road where he was a regular in the youth team.  Had a spell on loan at Potters Bar Town last season.

Shane Gore

Born: 28/10/1981 Signed in the summer of 2008 from East Thurrock United.  Shane started life as a trainee at then Football League club Wimbledon at the turn of the century, and after loan spells at Peterborough and Barnet, elected to join the Bees in 2004. Since then Shane has also played for Stevenage Borough and Havant & Waterlooville.

James Hamsher

Young left sided attacking player who arrived from Northwood in the autumn.  Made his debut as a sub in our recent defeat at Stadium MK. Started at Sutton where he was a member of their successful reserve side before moving to Middlesex in the summer 2006.  His spell with Woods was marred by injury. Currently on loan at Godalming Town.

Exciting prospect who impressed enough to make his first team debut last season whilst still a member of the youth team.  Winner of the 2008 Reserve team golden boot.  Currently on loan at Chalfont St Peter and has also spent time on loan at Beaconsfield SYCOB this season.

Lee Newman

Born: 19/03/84 Diminutive striker who returned to York Road in September 2006.  Originally signed from Hastings United in August 2005, Lee quickly impressed scoring regularly but opted to return to Sussex in February 2006 with Eastbourne Borough.  Began his career at Saltdean moving to Lewes in the summer of 2001.  Lee quickly made a name for himself at the Dripping Pan, hitting 100 goals in 195 games for the Rooks.  Spent much of last season on the sidelines due to a hernia injury.

Ashley Nicholls

Born: 30/01/81 Signed in the summer of 2008 from Boston United. Nicholls, who can play either in central midfield or out wide, started his career at Ipswich and went to play more than 70 games for Darlington. He also has experience with Rushden & Diamonds, Canvey Island, Grays Athletic and Cambridge United.

Mark Nisbet

Born: 29/11/86 Young defender who arrived at York Road in the summer of 2006 from Flackwell Heath and quickly impressed with some eye catching performances.  Mark quickly became a fixture in the United team and has settled into a central defensive berth but can also play in central midfield or at right back. Scored the vital goal in the 1-0 win at Kings Lynn in the 2007 Play Off Semi-Final.  2007 young player of the year.  Mark completed 100 full appearances for the Magpies in October 2008.

Richard Pacquette

Striker

 

Born: 28/01/83 Signed from Havant & Waterlooville on deadline day 2008, after achieving national fame in February when he scored for Havant at the Kop End to give the Hawks the lead against Liverpool at Anfield in the FA Cup Fourth Round.   He started life as a trainee at Queens Park Rangers, making over 30 appearances for the Rs. While at Loftus Road he gained loan experience at Stevenage Borough, Dagenham & Redbridge and Mansfield Town, before moving on to MK Dons, Brentford and Farnborough. In January 2005 he returned to Stevenage before moving on to St Albans City, Thurrock and Worthing before arriving at Havant. His FA Cup exploits earned him a call up to the Dominican national side, where he scored on his debut in their World Cup qualifier against Barbados.

Pat Sappleton

Centre back signed from Godalming Town in November 2008.  Patrick started his career as a Wimbledon trainee, representing Jamaica at Under 21 level.  Since then he has played for, Hendon, Boreham Wood, Farnborough, Billericay, Crawley, Boston, Margate and Eastbourne Borough.

Nevin Saroya

Born: 15/09/1980 Powerful central defender signed from Hayes & Yeading United in December 2008.  Nevin began his career at Brentford, moving onto Hampton and Grays before arriving at Yeading where he played a full role in their great successes at earlier in this decade.  Was club captain of the merged Hayes & Yeading from its founding up to his departure.  Starred on the silver screen alongside Vinnie Jones in the film Mean Machine.

Born: 22/12/83 Local born wide player signed in the summer of 2006 from Flackwell Heath Ashley also has experience with Burnham.  His energetic performances for the Magpies quickly turned him into an automatic selection.  Joint winner of the 2007 Players’ Player of the year.  2008 manager’s player of the year and Maidenhead Advertiser Player of the year.  2008 Supporters Player of the Year Runner Up.  Ashley completed 100 full appearances for the Magpies in September 2008.

Dominic Sterling

Born: 08/07/76 Experienced central defender signed in the summer of 2006 from Canvey Island.  Dominic began his career on Wimbledon’s books but came to prominence at the turn of the century with some impressive performances for Wealdstone which earned him a move to the Conference with Hayes in 2000.  Subsequently switched to Aldershot then Canvey.  Has also played for the England National Game XI.  Club captain Dominic has proved himself to be every inch the top quality defender his past experience suggested he was, showing himself to be the very model of consistency. Winner of the 2007 Maidenhead Advertiser Player of the Year award, Joint winner of the 2007 Players’ Player of the Year, and 2007 Supporters Player of the Year Runner Up.  Dominic completed 100 full appearances for the Magpies in September 2008.

Ben Surey

Born 18/12/82 Signed in the summer of 2008 from Basingstoke Town. Ben began his career as a trainee at Crystal Palace earning a professional contract.  After a loan spell, Ben joined Gravesend & Northfleet on a permanent basis in the summer of 2004 after being released by the Eagles. Two years later history repeated itself as a loan spell at Basingstoke was followed by move to the Camrose.
