Johnson
Hippolyte
|
Manager
|
|
|
Born: 09/06/64 Appointed in October 2006, Johnson
(better known as Drax) had a long and
distinguished non league career as a striker including spells at Aldershot, Chesham, Dulwich and Wealdstone. He began coaching at Chesham and then
became joint manager alongside Naz Bashir at Yeading.
Took sole control at The Warren in December 2001 and silverware followed
with an Isthmian League Cup win in 2003.
This was followed by back to back Championship titles as Yeading swiftly moved up the Isthmian League and into
the Conference South. At the same
time Drax sprang to national prominence when Yeading lost to Newcastle United live on BBC TV in
the FA Cup 3rd Round in January 2005, a loss that was
compensated by a double County
Cup win at the end
of the season. Drax
brought FA Cup glory to Maidenhead almost as soon as he arrived at York
Road, taking the club to a first round appearance for the first time in
25 years, he then set about winning promotion at the first attempt which
was achieved via the play offs following an amazing late season run of
victories. Last season Drax won the Blue Square
South Manager of the Month award for April for an unbeaten run which
saved the Magpies from relegation.
